Bayern Munich cruised to victory against Hamburg at the HSH Nordbank Arena, wiping away the shock of the home defeat against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend with a 3-0 victory courtesy of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Mueller and Toni Kroos. Hamburg played reasonably well, but the hosts were simply no match for the firepower that the league leaders had to offer, and once they went down a recovery never looked likely.

It took them most of the first half to make the breakthrough, but when Bayern scored they did so in rather spectacular fashion. Kroos was able to get onto the end of a wonderful header from Mueller, and although Rene Adler forced the midfielder away from goal, the threat wasn’t over. Schweinsteiger, anticipating a far-post cross, had stolen in unmarked, and a diving header enabled him to power Kroos’ beautifully-weighted cross past Adler for the opening goal.
And once the first had gone in, it was easy sailing for the Bundesliga leaders. Mueller made it two with a brilliant strike, being fed by a nice pass from Franck Ribery before being forced wide by the intervention of Adler. No matter -- the 23-year-old looked up, saw nobody was able to clear a shot off the line, and curled in a peach of an effort from a nigh-on impossible angle.
Kroos got the goal his performance merited a few minutes later, and from then on it was calm sailing for Bayern. Hamburg had zero chance of erasing a three-goal deficit, and everyone knew it. It was just a matter of seeing out the rest of the match and returning to Munich with three points. Easy enough.
