Liverpool vs. Newcastle: Lineups

Pepe Reina and Glen Johnson are still injured for Liverpool, but Demba Ba returns for Newcastle.

Matthew Lewis

Pepe Reina has failed to return in time for Liverpool and does not make the squad for today's game against Newcastle at Anfield, with Brad Jones continuing in goal.

Glen Johnson is also injured, with Andre Wisdom starting at left-back. The team is the same eleven that drew 2-2 in the Merseyside Derby against Everton last week, with the likes of Stewart Downing and Joe Cole having failed to impress in midweek.

For the visitors. Demba Ba makes a welcome return from injury and starts up front, reprising his partnership with Papiss Cisse. Cheik Tiote is injured, and James Perch surprisingly starts in midfield in his stead, with summer signing Vurnon Anita at right-back.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Brad Jones; Andre Wisdom, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Jose Enrique; Nuri Sahin, Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen; Suso, Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez

Newcastle (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Vurnon Anita, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Davide Santon; Hatem Ben Arfa, James Perch, Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez; Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse.
