DFB Pokal, Third Round Draw: Champions still alive in defense of trophy

Borussia Dortmund are still alive in the defense of their DFB Pokal crown. The third round draw has also given us two derbies to look forward to in December.

The third round draw for the 2012-13 DFB Pokal has been completed, and we’ve been awarded two derbies as Augsburg will host Bayern Munich in a Bavarian Derby and Karlsruher host Freiburg in a Baden-Württemberg derby.

The defending champions Borussia Dortmund will host fellow Bundesliga club Hannover 96. The other all-Bundesliga contests feature Wolfsburg hosting Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz traveling Schalke. The other contests see Kickers Offenbach hosting Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bochum hosting 1860 Munich, and Stuttgart hosting Köln.

After a first round where a record six Bundesliga clubs were eliminated from the competition, the second round only saw one eliminated in a Bundesliga vs Bundesliga match. The quarterfinals will feature at least four top flight clubs with the potential for seven.

Third Round Draw

Kickers Offenbach vs Fortuna Dusseldorf
Wolfsburg vs Bayer Leverkusen
Bochum vs 1860 Munich
Karlsruher vs Freiburg
Borussia Dortmund vs Hannover
Schalke vs Mainz
Augsburg vs Bayern Munich
Stuttgart vs Köln
