Houston Dynamo fought through two rounds of playoffs without Brad Davis last season, but were unable to come up with the quality to score against the LA Galaxy without their MVP in the MLS Cup Final. In this season's rematch of last year's title tilt, Davis is healthy, and has an arsenal of in-form attackers helping his cause.
LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo, 2012 MLS Cup: Preview and TV schedule
It’s the rematch that only two fanbases cared to see, but this edition of Dynamo-Galaxy should be better than last season’s MLS Cup final.
While the LA Galaxy are favorites in the cup final at home, where they'll be in front of tens of thousands of loud home fans, they're certainly not as strong of favorites as they were last time around. David Beckham and Landon Donovan are a year older, while Davis' set piece delivery has been nearly impossible for opposing teams to deal with. However, unlike last season, Robbie Keane is entering the final in excellent form, and he's had plenty of time to gel with his teammates.
Saturday night’s final will be the final game in the LA Galaxy career of David Beckham, who will pursue footballing opportunities elsewhere. There are also plenty of grumblings that Landon Donovan will retire from the game after this match, win or lose. It’s the end of an era for the Galaxy, an the Dynamo would love nothing more than to spoil their party and capture their franchise’s third MLS Cup.
Match date/time: Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET, 1:30 p.m. local
