Hannover 96 have reached an agreement with manager Mirko Slomka to extend the 45 year old’s contract with the club until June 2016. The announcement was made on Saturday, the day before Slomka was to manage his 100th Bundesliga fixture with Hannover.

Hannover 96 and manager Mirko Slomka have reached a contract extension that will keep him in Hannover until June 2016.

Slomka took over the club on February 19, 2010 and has since led them to a fairly impressive record. Hannover have 43 wins, 39 losses, and 18 draws since that time. The club has also qualified for the UEFA Europa League in back to back seasons. Last year, they advanced all the way to the quarterfinals before bowing out to eventual champions Atletico Madrid. In this season’s competition, they are unbeaten in group play and have advanced to the knockout rounds.
The Reds have been up and down at this point with 7 wins, 2 draws, and 7 losses. After not losing at home at all last season, Hannover have already lost twice at AWD Arena, but they’ve won their last two matches including Sunday’s impressive 3-2 victory over second place Bayer Leverkusen.
With stalls earlier this year in the signing of this extension, there were some rumblings that Slomka would be a candidate to take over for Jupp Heynckes when he departed Bayern Munich. While this extension doesn't guarantee Slomka won't leave over the next few seasons, it does show his commitment to remaining in Hannover for the near future.
