Fortuna Düsseldorf vs. Hannover: Final score 2-1, Ilsö wins it with late free kick

Fortuna Düsseldorf grabbed a massive three points heading into the winter break.

Fortuna Düsseldorf rose to 13th in the table with a 2-1 victory over Hannover 96 on Saturday. Hannover drop to 11th place, just two points ahead of Düsseldorf.

Hannover almost jumped out to an early lead thanks to Mame Biram Diouf, but the Senegalese shot wide of the target. The visitors did well to control the match in the first half hour, but Düsseldorf slowly began to chip away to find themselves in more productive situations.

Düsseldorf were surprisingly the side that struck first. Dani Schahin headed in a cross from Leon Balogun in the 39th minute to give Düsseldorf the 1-0 lead.

It was Diouf that grabbed Hannover’s equalizer with twenty minutes to go. The forward brought the ball down with his chest and ripped a great shot past Fabian Giefer to level the score at one.

The home side would not be denied on this day however, and Ken Ilsö scored on a free kick to give Düsseldorf the 2-1 win over Hannover.
