Borussia Dortmund beat Hoffenheim 3-1 to move into third place heading into the winter break.

Mario Götze opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a great shot. The German midfielder pulled up to the corner of the penalty area before ripping his shot between the legs of Andreas Beck and into the corner for the 1-0 lead.
Hoffenheim put in a good spell of football and found their equalizer just nine minutes later. Kevin Volland crossed the ball into the area, and Sven Schipplock was on hand to put it past Roman Weidenfeller to make it 1-1.
The second half was all about BVB as they started to move into the Hoffenheim half with more dangerous plays. Marco Reus slid the ball into the middle of the penalty area, and Kevin Großkreutz knocked it past Koen Casteels for the 2-1 lead.
Robert Lewandowski made it 3-1 eight minutes later. He turned Matthieu Delpierre before beating Casteels and finishing with a lofted shot to the far corner.
BVB end the first half of the season in third place, but they're twelve points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich. Hoffenheim are in 16th place. They're three points out of the automatic relegation places, and they're seven points from getting out of the relegation playoff place.
