Thomas Muller has signed a contract extension that will keep him with Bayern Munich through June 2017. His previous contract was set to expire at the end of June 2015.

Müller, 23, has been with Bayern since he joined the youth teams as an 11 year old. He played his way through the club’s youth teams and reserves in the third division before making his debut with the first team in August 2008. Müller found his way into the starting lineup the next season and has been a consistent starter ever since.

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said, “Thomas Müller came through the youth ranks at FC Bayern. We trained him here, and he’s developed into a very important player for Bayern Munich.”

The attacking midfielder has also become a regular for his country, scoring ten goals in 38 matches for the German national side, including five at the 2010 World Cup when he was only twenty years old.

Müller’s form has been outstanding this season for FC Bayern. In 25 appearances through all competitions, he has scored 13 goals and picked up 8 assists, and he leads the club in both categories.
