Dieter Hecking leaves Nürnberg for Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg have announced that Dieter Hecking will take over as the club’s new manager

The rumor all week was that former Real Madrid Bernd Schuster would be announced as the new manager. However, the deal fell through when Schuster changed his demands and wanted to hire a whole new coaching staff, according to Bild.
Hecking, 48, rescued Nürnberg from relegation in the 2009-10 season and won the relegation playoffs. The next two seasons saw the club finish in 6th and 10th place in the table. They’ve struggled this season under Hecking and currently sit in 14th place. They’ll make an announcement on Hecking’s replacement in the coming days.
Wolfsburg haven’t been any better so far this year and actually sit below Nürnberg in 15th place. They’re struggling to score goals, and they’re conceding far too many. Hecking will have his work cut out for him. Wolfsburg are seven points out of the relegation playoff spot currently occupied by Hoffenheim.
