Chelsea are now just four points behind second-placed Manchester City, though they were a bit fortunate to leave Carrow Road with all three points. Norwich were overmatched in the first half, but presented significant opposition in the second half and were a bit unlucky not to finish any of their half-chances in the Blues' 1-0 win.

It wasn’t pretty, but Chelsea did what they needed to do to gain a win on Boxing Day.
Juan Mata was Chelsea's biggest attacking threat in the first half, and scored his team's only goal. He had an excellent chance early on in the game, hitting the post on one occasion and just barely touching a close-range shot wide on another. Eventually, he found enough quality to score and curled a brilliant shot past Mark Bunn in the 38th minute.
Norwich's best spell came in the first 15 minutes of the first half, with Grant Holt and Wes Hoolahan troubling the Chelsea goal, but Petr Cech was never forced into a particularly difficult save. As the half went on, Chelsea started to look a bit more comfortable and were able to withstand the Canaries' late surges forward to hold onto their win.
