Maximilian Beister injury: Hamburg midfielder tears hamstring

The German youth international suffered a torn hamstring against Wolfsburg.

It is likely that Maximilian Beister will miss the final two games before the winter break after tearing his hamstring in Hamburg’s match against Wolfsburg over the weekend. The midfielder will definitely miss Friday’s match against Hoffenheim and is doubtful for Bayer Leverkusen in Matchday 17.

Beister, 22, came off injured in the 53rd minute of the match against Wolfsburg after scoring a goal in the first half. Initially, it was believed to be a minor injury, but the scan on Monday revealed the tear. With Heung-Min Son returning to the squad last weekend, the loss of Beister won’t be as bad as it could be.

So far this season, Beister has picked up two goals and one assist. All three tallies have come in the last four matches as Beister has become more settled in the starting eleven. It took awhile for Beister to earn the trust of manager Thorsten Fink, but the future is bright for the kid.
