Udinese Vs. AC Milan, 2012 Serie A Week 23: Rossoneri Running Out Of Forward Players

Udinese could get themselves into the Scudetto race if they’re able to defeat AC Milan on Saturday.

If Milan are going to continue to be a legitimate Scudetto challenger, they're going to have to improve their form significantly. They've been without Alexandre Pato on and off, while Gennaro Gattuso and Antonio Cassano have been out with serious medical issues. Kevin-Prince Boateng has been missing for a bit as well, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended. These issues make their league form understandable, but excuses won't stop Juventus from pulling away.

With those players missing, it's likely that Clarence Seedorf will play the attacking midfield role, behind Robinho and Stephan El Shaarawy. New signing Maxi Lopez will definitely feature up top at some point.

Udinese certainly have plans to challenge for the top three, but if they can defeat Milan on Saturday, they might start thinking about the Scudetto as well. They're just three points behind Milan with a lower goal differential, and will thrust themselves right into the title race if they can win on Saturday.

The width provided by Dusan Basta and Pablo Armero could prove to be extremely difficult for Milan to deal with. However, Udinese are without Giampaolo Pinzi and Kwadwo Asamoah in midfield, and that showed in their loss to Fiorentina last week. Udinese will likely spend much of this game trying to get the ball wide and up to Antonio Di Natale in a very quick fashion, while Milan will look to play a slower game through the center.
