The New England Revolution need forwards in the worst way. On Monday, they at least started to make some progress with the signing of Saer Sene on a free transfer from the Bayern Munich Reserves. The 25-year-old has been playing with the reserves in the third division of the Bundesliga for the past 2.5 years, scoring 19 goals in 55 appearances.

“We had the chance to have Saër in camp with us in Arizona and see him interact with our players both on and off the field,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a team release. “We believe he’ll play a valuable role for us this season. He’s scored goals consistently with each of his previous clubs, and we believe he has the ability to continue to do so in MLS.”
This offseason, the Revolution have parted ways with three of their top forwards from last season, including Rajko Lekic. They thought they had found a replacement when they announced the signing of Pepe Moreno, but recent reports suggest he might be staying in Colombia. Saer would likely be competing for a starting spot alongside Zack Schilawski, who followed up a promising rookie season with a disappointing year in 2011.
