Aston Villa centre back Richard Dunne will be out for two months with a broken shoulder suffered during the closing stages of his team’s 1-0 home loss to Manchester City last weekend, the club has confirmed. Dunne suffered the injury when challenging Joe Hart for a corner kick as Villa made a late attempt to notch an equaliser, and the team released a statement on his injury on Monday:
Richard Dunne Suffers Broken Shoulder, Out 2 Months
Aston Villa centre back Richard Dunne will be out for two months after suffering a fractured clavicle in last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

Richard Dunne sustained a fracture to his right clavicle in the game against Manchester City. He will undergo an operation today in Birmingham. It is anticipated that he will be sidelined for up to eight weeks.
Dunne’s absence adds to Alex McLeish’s injury problems at centre back - with Ciaran Clark also missing with damaged knee ligaments for the next few weeks it looks as though Villa will be forced into a James Collins-Carlos Cuellar partnership. This is just another disruption that the team, which is going through a very rough spell, simple doesn’t need.
