Manchester United overcame a slow start to pick up a 2-0 win in a tricky Europa League tie at Ajax, but there was also some bad news as.Antonio Valencia went down with a hamstring injury just 10 minutes after coming in for Ashley Young. Valencia will undergo tests to get a definitive diagnosis on the hamstring, but it appears as if he will miss some time.
Antonio Valencia To Miss Four Weeks With Hamstring Injury
Antonio Valencia could miss up to four weeks after injuring his hamstring against Ajax
''He has a hamstring injury unfortunately,'' United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said after the game. ''It will be four weeks. It is a bad blow for us."
The injury came during a play that saw Valencia help set up Javier Hernandez for the Red Devils' second goal. Valencia was immediately substituted, then he went straight to the dressing room. While any injury is a shame, this one is especially difficult to stomach considering Valencia's sparkling form of late.
If he does miss four weeks, he will miss the return leg against Ajax in addition to league matches against Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion. He could also miss the next round of the Europa League, if the Red Devils advance.
