Details Emerge On Houston Dynamo Away Support Restrictions

The restrictions against Houston Dynamo supporters will be for at least eight matches as their status will not be reevaluated until after the team's home opener on May 12, according to the letter MLS sent supporters and obtained by Dynamo Theory. In addition to the first seven games of the year, the restrictions will also apply to first road game at Livestrong Sporting Park, apparently in response to supporters lighting flares there during last season's playoff game. The league explained the sanctions this way in the letter:

The decision to impose this sanction is based on the League-wide position that misconduct at any MLS event can affect a fan’s standing at other MLS facilities. MLS will not tolerate behavior which threatens the safety of any fan, stadium employee or match participant. The actions of just a few individuals can influence the perception of all of our supporters, clubs and League.

In addition to the incident against Sporting Kansas City, the letter detailed two other incidents, both of which included smoke bombs being ignited. The first was the away match against FC Dallas, while the other, and seemingly more serious, was at the MLS Cup against the LA Galaxy.
