Two weeks before the two sides face off in the UEFA Champions League, FC Basel have agreed to sell star winger Xherdan Shaqiri to Bayern Munich. The 20-year-old Swiss international will play for Basel against Bayern and for the rest of the season before he joins the Bavarian club in the summer. The initial transfer fee is believed to be in the region of €11 million.
Bayern Munich To Sign Xherdan Shaqiri From FC Basel
FC Basel star Xherdan Shaqiri will move to Bayern Munich in the summer.

Shaqiri went to the World Cup with Switzerland as an 18-year-old and was used as a substitute, and has since become one of the country's best players. He scored four goals in Euro 2012 qualifying for Switzerland, netting a goal against England and a hat trick against Bulgaria.
He was pegged as one of Europe’s rising stars when he played for the Switzerland U-21s in 2009, shortly after making his Basel debut, but finally arrived at the highest level this season. He was the man of the match in Basel’s UEFA Champions League win over Manchester United that knocked the Red Devils out of the competition. Basel currently leads the Swiss Super League, is still in the Swiss Cup and are favorites for a double.
