FC Dallas Vs. New York Red Bulls: Toros Lead 1-0

FC Dallas took a 1-0 lead into halftime against the New York Red Bulls, thanks to an 11th minute goal from defender Zach Loyd.

Loyd's goal came off a botched clearance by New York midfielder Dax McCarty. Loyd was able to put home a shot thanks to a pass from newcomer Blas Perez.

Dallas held on to the lead for the half but did lose a key element to their attack. In the 30th minute midfielder Fabian Castillo picked up an ankle injury and Schellas Hyndman subbed him out for another newcomer in Carlos Rodriguez.

New York did make a push late in the first half as Thierry Henry nearly beat a sleeping defense from Dallas on a free kick in the 44th minute. Ugo Ihemelu fouled McCarty just on the edge of the penalty box and Henry took a quick restart that hit the post.

Dallas managed three shots on goal in the first half to New York’s one. New York looked to be getting the most of Dallas late in the half and it will be interesting to see if that continues in the second half.
