If everything goes according to plan, the final of the DFB-Pokal is going to be a spectacular one. On one half of the draw are Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich, the second and third placed teams in the Bundesliga. Obviously Bayern is the bigger draw, but either team would help make a cup final better.
DFB-Pokal 2012 Semifinals: It’s Set Up For A Marquee Final
Borussia Dortmund face a tough challenge in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday.
On the other end of the draw is Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga leaders and the defending Bundesliga champions. They’re big favorites to progress to the final, but the semifinal in front of them is tougher than it appears on the surface. SpVgg Greuther Fürth is no joke.
The Kleeblätter sit on top of the 2. Bundesliga and are currently heavy favorites to win automatic promotion to the top flight. They’ve already recorded away wins against Bundesliga sides Nürnburg and Hoffenheim in this competition. They’re 11-0-2 at home in the 2. Bundesliga and they’re coming off of a 4-1 road win over 1860 Munich. If Dortmund doesn’t put their best foot forward, an upset could be on the cards.
Schedule (Both games on ESPN3)
