Premier League, Week 31: Manchester United Defeat Blackburn

Hanley was in the thick of the action only 5 minutes on from that, as he did well to take the ball off and advanced Rafael. This time the Brazilian’s touch was a little too heavy but the warning signs were there for Blackburn that they were to endure a very long night.

Right on the stroke of half-time Blacburn forced David De Gea into two stunning saves as we were all reminded there was two teams involved in the game. First Marcus Olsson’s sweetly struck half-volley was parried over superbly, and from the following corner, De Gea had to get up well to tip Hanley’s header over the bar.

The first half of the game wasn’t all that much to write home about for large periods, but when there was something to say, it was Spurs who provided all the best moments.

Spurs were good value for their lead at halftime, but Swansea came back into things more in the second half, making the game a very even contest. Things were level on the scoreboard too at 59 minutes, when Gylfi Sigurdsson found the back of the net.

It only lasted three minutes. Once again, their set piece defending failed them, as Ivanovic was gifted yet another easy headed goal in the 83rd minute to put the Blues back on top. They put the exclamation point on the win with a goal from Fernando Torres, who got on the end of a through ball by Sturridge to net just his third league goal of the season.

Every point is valuable, but City will absolutely see this as two points dropped, despite the excellent comeback. Manchester United currently leads the league by two points with one game in hand.

All of these games look important on the face of it but when you look at the numbers zero percent of what happens this weekend will matter a lick. You should still watch them and stuff though. For sure.
