DC United Vs. Montreal Impact, 2012 MLS: Impact Manage First Road Point

Whatever it is about D.C. United's aversion to winning consecutive games, they are probably going to want to go ahead and take care of that sooner than later. Opportunities won't come much easier than they did on Wednesday.

Facing a Montreal Impact team that is the worst defensive side in MLS and had not yet registered a road point, United needed an equalizing goal from Maicon Santos in the 72nd minute to just salvage a point. Santos did nearly allow United to grab all three points, but he was correctly ruled offside in the 90th minute. The tie leaves United without wins in consecutive matches since 2009.

The Impact nearly managed to steal away three points after Lamar Neagle beautifully set up Bernardo Corradi for a 68th-minute header. Davy Arnaud then narrowly missed another go-ahead chance in the 87th minute, as his shot went just wide.

United did largely dominate the match and outshot the Impact 18-12. But they managed to put just two of those shots on frame and rarely tested goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.
