Arsenal Vs. Chelsea, 2012 Premier League: Halftime Score, Neither Team Interested In Goals

UPDATE: Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea, Final Score

It has been a truly woeful 45 minutes from the Emirates Stadium. There have been very few chances, and the half chances that have occurred have come on set pieces that were poorly defended. There’s been very little to write home about so far, as both Chelsea and Arsenal appear to have missed the memo that this is a very important game. It’s 0-0 at halftime, with two shots on target between the two teams.

Arsenal's best chance of the game came in the 13th minute, on a surprisingly good free kick by Theo Walcott. He hit an in-swinger towards the back post which Robin van Persie had an excellent chance to capitalize on, but he didn't make the most of his golden chance.

Arsenal did almost nothing for a 30 minute period of time following that chance, but came alive at the very end of the second half. Chelsea's defense completely fell asleep on another free kick at the very end of the half, allowing Laurent Koscielny to have a free header. He did well to get it on frame, but could only hit the crossbar with his effort.

Basically everything else about this first half has been bad, which Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur will be thrilled to see. A 0-0 draw fits the rivals of Arsenal and Chelsea just fine.
