VIDEO: Peter Nowak Rushes Field, Is Ejected

It's been a rough season for Peter Nowak. Despite the Philadelphia Union picking up their first road win of the year on Saturday, the season promises to get a little rougher for the embattled head coach.

With his team clinging to a 1-0 lead late in the match at Chivas USA and already down to 10 men because of an awful challenge by Keon Daniel, the Union were shown a second red card on an absolutely stupid late, studs up tackle by Gabriel Farfan. The tackle rightly drew an immediate red, which apparently didn't please Nowak, who came onto the field to protest.

But that was not enough for Nowak. As tempers began to flare, he inserted himself into the scrum of players and even appears to get in a shove or two of his own. Unsurprisingly, Nowak was kicked off the field.

You have to imagine there’s going to be a suspension coming to both Nowak and Farfan. For Farfan, an additional game or two would fit previous precedence. It’s less clear cut with Nowak. Coaches can’t be allowed to come onto the field in a situation like this as the possibility for escalation goes up significantly. A 2-3 game ban would send that message.

Just to put icing on the cake, here’s what Nowak said after the game (keeping in mind he had two players properly shown red cards for bad challenges): “You don’t want to see this kind of stuff and Chivas was trying to pull every single trick out of their sleeve to make us suffer...”
