Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has won the PFA Player of the Year after a phenomenal season in which he's virtually single-handedly taken his club to the verge of Champions League qualification. He beat out Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Joe Hart, Wayne Rooney and Scott Parker to receive the award, and few could argue that is isn't well deserved - the 28-year-old has scored 33 goals for the Gunners this season and has cemented his position as one of the most dangerous centre forwards in the world.

The Young Player of the Year award is far more contentious. It's been given to Tottenham Hotspur fullback Kyle Walker, who was competing against Gareth Bale, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck and Sergio Aguero. Of that list, it could be argued that Walker - a highly limited and essentially mediocre defender, according to SB Nation's Spurs blog, Cartilage Free Captain - is the second least deserving, although obviously the players themselves feel differently.
Last year's winners were Gareth Bale and Jack Wilshere, which means that the Spurs-Arsenal axis has swept the PFA awards for the second year running.
