FOX Soccer to Bring Us an “Unprecedented” Look Inside Liverpool FC

FOX Soccer has announced they will produce an all new six-episode “fly of the wall” type documentary about Liverpool Football Club. The show will cover the end of the current Premier League season, the FA Cup Final and the club’s summer tour in the US. It even has a title!

“Our Liverpool: Never Walk Alone” is scheduled to reach the airwaves in the fall of 2012. The series is being produced by Scott Boggins who formerly worked on the HBO Sports 24/7 series which is both excellent and popular among fans and critics. 24/7 has garnered 33 Emmy nominations (14 wins), so if FOX can get that kind of quality and buzz from this series, there are certainly enough clubs and stories worth following in the future.

From the press release:

Working directly with Liverpool's ownership and management, FOX Soccer has gained exclusive and unprecedented access to one of the most influential brands in global sport. Never before have cameras been allowed inside the Anfield locker room, Liverpool's home stadium since 1892 and hallowed ground for millions of supporters worldwide.

Sadly, FOX Sports Media Group Chairman and CEO David Hill is a little mistaken about the potential draw of this new series. In the same release referenced above he exclaimed, “This is going to be a truly remarkable series for every soccer fan on Earth.” Well maybe not “exclaimed” but if he thinks every soccer fan on Earth gives a toss about Liverpool, he’s sadly mistaken. Still, it’s nice to see this type of show being produced by FOX Sports and hopefully it’s the start of something bigger.

Personally I'd like to see a series dedicated an Old Firm Derby or Wayne Rooney's hair plugs...I might be kidding about the second idea.
