Thierry Henry Injury Update: Red Bulls Forward Will Miss 3-4 Weeks

Thierry Henry could conceivably be out until June 17, after he injured his hamstring.

Thierry Henry may have scored his MLS-leading ninth goal of the season and the New York Red Bulls may have beaten the New England Revolution 1-0, but Saturday was not all good news. Henry was forced to leave the match in the 25th minute after falling to the ground and having to be helped off the field. After the game, it was revealed that he had strained his hamstring.

"It’s quite a big hamstring, a huge one," Hans Backe said, according to Big Apple Soccer. "So normally you say three or four weeks."

The loss of Henry will certainly be a blow. Without Henry on the field Saturday, the Red Bulls were left to play mostly bunker-and-counter with the Revolution having the vast majority of the possession.

Assuming Backe’s timeline is accurate, the Red Bulls would lose Henry for 3-5 matches. It’s entirely possible the Red Bulls could just hold him out until the international break, as they don’t play any MLS games between May 23 and June 17.
