D.C. United Vs. Seattle Sounders, 2012 MLS: Scoreless Game Features Terrible Finishing

D.C. United and Seattle Sounders didn't exactly play the most enthralling football on Saturday night at RFK Stadium, and when they did have moments of nice attacking play, the finishing from both teams left something to be desired. Compared to all of the weekend's other games, it simply wasn't a well-played contest, and it justly ended in a 0-0 draw.

Chris Pontius was DC's brightest star, but as the score indicates, it was more for getting himself into good positions than actually finishing chances. He was DC's most dangerous attacking threat after he came on for Danny Cruz in the 59th minute until the end of the game, but he missed a couple of golden chances.

Eddie Johnson made his league debut and was less than impressive. Some might go as far as to say that he was very bad. He looked very much like a player who has not consistently played at a high level or scored goals for the better part of five years.

Even though the play wasn’t great, neither team will be too disappointed with the result. It was certainly a fair result, and many pegged this as a draw before it kicked off.
