Borussia Dortmund Vs. Bayern Munich, 2012 DFB-Pokal Final: Halftime Score 3-1 BVB

It didn't take very long for Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund to take a 1-0 lead against runners-up Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal final. BVB's first attack of the game just three minutes in carved open Bayern's defence, which left a gaping hole for the late run of Shinja Kagawa. The midfielder was picked out by Jakub Blaszczykowski, under challenge from Manuel Neuer, and fired into a mostly empty net from sixteen yards.

That lead didn't last long - twenty minutes later Mario Gomez went scampering down the left channel and was hauled down in the box by Roman Weidenfeller. The two of them had already clashed in the early stages of the match, and both weren't very happy about the challenge this time, with the Bayern striker attended to on the sidelines and Weidenfeller eventually forced off with an injury.

In the meantime, Arjen Robben blasted home a penalty to level the score, and it looked like Bayern were back in the game. Dortmund weren't handling the pressure well, and only some last-ditch defending prevented Toni Kroos from earning his side the lead. And then, like magic, Bayern gave the lead back. A bizarre tackle by Jerome Boateng gave BVB a penalty, which Mats Hummels converted, and then just minutes later Shinji Kagawa played a brilliant pass to Robert Lewandowski to set him free to score Dortmund's third.

So, advantage to the champions. Let’s see what happens in the second half.
