In a bit of a rarity, MLS gets its midweek action started a little early with a Tuesday night game at BBVA Compass Stadium. Otherwise, it's a pretty quiet week, with only two MLS games being played before the weekend. It is worth noting that the Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC will probably both be playing full squads for their Wednesday game, as a CONCACAF Champions League spot is on the line as they kick off the Canadian Championship.
MLS 2012, Midweek 10 Preview And Fixtures: John Spencer Returns To Houston
The week gets off to an early start with a Tuesday matchup between the Dynamo and Timbers.
Tuesday, 8:30 p.m., MLS Live
A bit of a rough break for the Dynamo, who just played on Saturday and now face a Timbers team that is good and rested. The Timbers last played 10 days ago, although they've won just one of eight matches. The best subplot in this one is Timbers coach John Spencer's return to Houston, where he was an assistant prior to moving to Portland.
Pick: Dynamo, 1-0

Two teams that seem very good one week and then very beatable in the next. United’s offense looks to be the real deal, but their defense is not quite deep enough to cope with the absences they’ve recently experienced. The Rapids are still very much growing into Óscar Pareja’s system. Should be interesting.
Pick: Tie, 2-2
