It's safe to say no one will be locking away the film of this game for posterity. The Houston Dynamo and Portland Timbers played to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday that was every bit as ugly as the scoreline would suggest.
Houston Dynamo Vs. Portland Timbers, 2012 MLS: Ugly Scoreless Tie
The Dynamo were able to provide at least a little bit of drama, heavily pressuring the Timbers for much of the final 15 minutes. But in the end, they were unable to convert any of their chances. Timbers goalkeeper Troy Perkins does deserve some credit for preserving the shutout, coming up with seven saves.
Houston's best chance came in the 87th minute when Luiz Camargo sent Calen Carr through with a nice pass, but Perkins was able to stop the 1-on-1 chance.
The Timbers have now gone 314 minutes without registering a goal and have not actually scored a goal in 427 minutes. On the bright side, they have now registered points in each of their past two games and moved into a tie for seventh place in the Western Conference with Chivas USA at 10 points apiece.
The Dynamo moved into a three-way tie for fifth in the Eastern Conference, as they are now even with the New England Revolution and Montreal Impact at 12 points.
