The Colorado Rapids re-signed forward Omar Cummings to a multi-year deal on Friday, locking up one of their players over the past four seasons. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's fair to assume he got a substantial raise over the roughly $90,000 he made in 2011.

“Omar is one of the longest-serving members of our team, and has been a positive presence both on and off the field for years,” Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo said in a statement. “His talent, speed and work rate have made him an All-Star and an MLS Cup winner, and we’re pleased to extend his contract.”
Cummings’ production has tailed off a bit in the last two seasons, but he remains one of the more dangerous players in MLS. Since 2008, he has amassed 34 goals and 26 assists in about 9,000 minutes.
What this menas for Cummings' longterm future is still a bit unknown. With the emergence of rookie Tony Cascio and recent signing Kamani Hill, Cummings' contract could actually make it easier to arrange a trade.
