If you watched the Columbus Crew and Portland Timbers square off on Saturday night then you are owed 1,000 apologies. It was awful, as two bad teams, unsurprisingly, played badly in a horrific 90 minutes at JELD-WEN Field that, of course, ended in a 0-0 draw. And that worst part is that both teams are probably happy with the result, as they are so desperate for a point. The list of things that were not the worst in this match is very, very short. It was bad.
Portland Timbers Vs. Columbus Crew, 2012 MLS: It Was Bad
It wasn’t as if neither team knew how to get forward. Portland had six shots on goal and Columbus had three, so there was action, but none of it was good action. There wasn’t anything mildly creative or skillful from either team, and Andy Greunebaum was probably the man of the match despite not having to make too many mind-blowing saves. It was really that bad.
