San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for "aggressively retrieving a ball" during a May 27 game against Sporting Kansas City, the MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Wednesday.

No further information was given on the alleged incident, but immediately following the game there were accusations that Busch had slapped a ball kid. No video evidence has ever been released that would add credence to that accusation.

Busch has played all 1,260 minutes in the Earthquakes 14 matches this season, posting three shutouts and helping lead his team to a 8-3-3 record this season. He will likely be replaced in goal by second-year player David Bingham. The 22-year-old has only made one MLS appearance in his career, stopping 4 of 5 shots in a win over the New England Revolution toward the end of last season.
