Germany Vs. Greece, Euro 2012: Lahm Breaks Deadlock

Greece were such easy opponents that Germany are letting their children score against them. Oh wait, that's just Philipp Lahm. With the attacking players rather forgetting their shooting boots, the bonsai left back decides to take things into his own hands. Picking up the ball from Mesut Ozil, Lahm cuts inside Vasilis Torosidis with a very cute shimmy, considers his options, and then smashes a right-footed drive into Michail Sifakis' bottom corner. Was it saveable? Maybe. But it wasn't saved, and Germany now lead 1-0.

Here’s where things will get boring. Greece will have to come out and attack to get an equaliser, which means they’ll need to come out of their defensive shell. That could mean Germany end up battering them - with the talent they have and the ability to play on the counterattack, you could see this turning into a rout quickly. That or something amusing could happen.

We have live coverage of the game in our Germany vs. Greece, Euro 2012 Quarterfinals StoryStream. For more on Euro 2012 and the entire world of football, follow @SBNationSoccer on Twitter.
