We're off and running in France vs. Spain. Here's a brief description of what has happened: There have been some passes, and Cesc Fabregas has been fouled in the box with no penalty given. The penalty call was fairly interesting - Gael Clichy and Fabregas were chasing after a long ball forward from Xabi Alonso (the only Spanish player save Iker Casillas who'd bother kicking the football more than twenty yards or so) and the two former teammates got a little bit tangled up, resulting in Fabregas being tripped.

Was it a penalty? Maybe. It might have been a foul. Was it as clear-cut as Mr. Fabregas would have liked us all to believe? Probably not. A few minutes later, Alonso shows off his long-ball kicking skills by trying to lop Hugo Lloris from twelve miles. It doesn't work.
