The Union have brought back one of MLS’s best central defenders to help turn around a team sorely in need of help.
Union Sign Bakary Soumare After Trade With Whitecaps

Bongarts/Getty ImagesWith the summer transfer window opening this week, Soumare will be eligible to play for the Union on Saturday. He has spent the past three seasons in Europe, mostly with French side Boulogne. When he transferred there in 2009, they were a Ligue 1 side, but spent the past two seasons in Ligue 2 after being relegated. Soumare also made seven appearances in 2. Bundesliga this year after being loaned to Karlsruher.
The former MLS Defender of the Year was a regular contributor during his European stay, logging nearly 7,800 first-team minutes.
