It wasn't long ago that the acquisition of Lucio from Bayern Munich helped catapult Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan to the European Cup. As Inter and Mourinho celebrated a famous Champions League win, it would have seem insane to suggest that the Lucio era at the San Siro would last just three years. And yet, here we are. No more Lucio.
Lucio Released By Inter Milan
Inter Milan centre back Lucio has left the club by mutual consent.

It’s not even much of a surprise. Inter’s defence never recovered from Mourinho’s departure, Lucio is 34 years old and had fallen out of of favour with the club. But still - this is a man who two years ago was part of the game’s most solid defensive line. Now his stock has fallen so much that he’s have his contract cancelled with two years left to run. Lucio’s not so far gone that he’s going to be out of the game entirely, and he’s been linked to plenty of teams this summer, but the fact that he’s been released is indicative that his value after his wages is approximately €0. Pretty spectacular.
