Ref Stops Game To Gaze At Andre Hainault’s Underwear

Just a few minutes into the friendly between the United States and Canada, you'd think a referee would have better things to do than stop the game to look at a player's underwear. You'd be wrong, as that's exactly what happened.

In the ref's defense, Canada's Andre Hainault was wearing black compression shorts under his white uniform shorts, which does violate Law 4 in FIFA's Rules of the Game, which reads in part:

• Shorts - if undershorts are worn, they must be of the same main colour as the shorts

Still, this was a friendly that isn’t part of a FIFA competition. Even though Hainault was allowed to stay on the field, it seems more than a tad unnecessary to stop the game just to clamp down on such a minor transgression.
