Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has never led an incident-free life, and it was rather unsurprising to hear that the 29-year-old had been involved in a fight on Sunday night. What was slightly more surprising to hear was that it was Barton who was the victim, with the police claiming that he had been attacked outside a nightclub and left with injuries to the face.
Joey Barton Arrested On Suspicion Of Affray
Joey Barton has been arrested after an incident outside a nightclub in Liverpool.

Barton, rather magnanimously, announced via Twitter that he would not be pressing charges:
I got sucker punched in the back of the head. Not injured as reported just a small bruise on rear of head/ear. I’ve had worse. Life goes on! Thanks for the concern. Have a good day people.
Not planning on pressing charges as its not that serious. The police have also got better things to do with their time. Can I just say a public thanks to the police last night as they were and have been today brilliant.
All sounded completely fine. And then...

Oh. It’s still far from clear what happened last night, but if the police are getting re-involved, that’s not good. Even if Barton’s done nothing wrong, which is completely plausibly, it’s incredible how this kind of nonsense seems to follow him around.
