Defending CONCACAF Champions League winner Monterrey was drawn into a group with Panama's Chorillo and Guatemala's Municipal, while their finals opponent Santos Laguna will have to finish ahead of Toronto FC and El Salvador's Aguila. This year's tournament will feature eight, three-team groups with only the winner advancing to the knockout stage. The Group stage begins on July 31 and ends on Oct. 25.

Among MLS teams, the LA Galaxy ended up with the least challenging group. The defending MLS Cup champions were drawn against El Salvador's Metapan and the third-place team from the Caribbean.
The Seattle Sounders were drawn against Honduras' Marathon and the Caribbean winner; Real Salt Lake is in a group with Costa Rica's Herediano and Panam's Tauro FC; and the Houston Dynamo will have to play Honduras' Olimpia and El Salvador's FAS.
