Euro 2012 has gotten underway with Poland and Greece and it was a cracker. There were red cards on both good calls and bad, some fantastic goals, a goal called back, a saved penalty by a substitute goalkeeper and all of it in front of a deafening home crowd. Next up is Russia and the Czech Republic and they have A LOT to live up to.
Russia Vs. Czech Republic, Euro 2012: Lineups
With the Poland and Greece playing to a draw, the Russians or Czechs have a chance to take first place in Group A. Russia will lean upon Igor Denisov, Konstantin Zyryanov and Roman Shirokov to control the midfield, while the Czech’s will be hoping that Tomas Rosicky can get free from the Russian trio. Of note is the absence of Igor Akinfeev, who recently recovered from injury but is not playing for reasons only Dick Advocaat knows.
