The New York Red Bulls have acquired Vancouver Whitecaps forward Sebastien le Toux in exchange for midfielder Dane Richards and allocation money. This marks the second move in less than seven months for the French striker, who was moved on by the Philadelphia Union in bizarre circumstances last January, and the second major move from the Whitecaps this week after the club sold assists leader Davide Chiumiento to FC Zurich.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have made another move, sending 28-year-old striker Sebastien le Toux to New York in exchange for speedy midfielder Dane Richards.

Le Toux, who had a middling 2011 season after a superb 2010 campaign, did well in Vancouver, but that wasn't enough to match the high expectations the Whitecaps had of the 28-year-old, and with the recent emergence of the explosive Darren Mattocks he found himself surplus to requirements at BC Place. The forward is in the final year of his contract.
Richards, who’s heading the other way, has pace to burn and could form a scary tandem with Mattocks as Vancouver look to shake up their squad.
