One match, no wins for Dallas. Two matches, no wins for Dallas. Three matches, no wins for Dallas. That trend continued on and on for FC Dallas until they had gone 13 straight without a win, but they finally broke that streak on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Goals by Carlos Rodriguez and Fabian Castillo brought Dallas from a goal down to defeat the Colorado Rapids, 2-1, and get the win that began to feel impossible.
Colorado Rapids Vs. FC Dallas, 2012 MLS: Hoops Finally Win A Match
Both teams had their chances in the first half, but neither team could break through. The opening part of the half belonged to the Rapids, who took it to the Hoops, but couldn’t get a goal. Then Dallas had their chances, but they couldn’t score either. It was an entertaining first 45 minutes, but a scoreless 45 minutes.
Five minutes into the second half, Omar Cummings finally made one of the many chances count. The striker took a pass from Conor Casey and beat Kevin Hartman at the near post to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
Considering Dallas' struggles, a 1-0 lead seemed safe for Colorado, but it wasn't. 10 minutes after going in front, Castillo got free and crossed for Rodriguez, who finished to level the match at 1-1. Then with nine minutes to go, Castillo got one of his own after Drew Moor cleared a ball off of the line and he knocked it into the empty goal. The comeback was complete and somehow, some way, Dallas' drought was over.
