Everton Announce Agreement For Tim Cahill Transfer To New York Red Bulls

Cahill was at training today with the team, sporting his familiar #17 as he participated in light workouts. He won’t officially join the roster until he receives his P-1 work visa and international transfer certificate, standard operating procedure. If the paperwork comes through quick enough, he could be available for selection as soon as this weekend.

The club announced the signing via press release on their website today.

The Red Bulls are clearly banking on a return to form for Cahill, which is a risky bet. He was a fantastic player for Millwall and then Everton after he moved to Goodison Park in 2004, but he really tailed off last season. The 32-year-old looked every bit his age and observer wondered whether he had anything left the tank. New York clearly thinks he does.
