New York Red Bulls Agree To Buy Tim Cahill From Everton

Tim Cahill will be moving from Everton to the New York Red Bulls if he can agree to personal terms with the MLS club. The two clubs agreed to a deal on Monday and now all that stands between Cahill and his becoming a member of the Red Bulls is an agreement to personal terms, which nobody thinks will be too difficult to sort out.

The Red Bulls are clearly banking on a return to form for Cahill, which is a risky bet. He was a fantastic player for Millwall and then Everton after he moved to Goodison Park in 2004, but he really tailed off last season. The 32-year-old looked every bit his age and observer wondered whether he had anything left the tank. New York clearly thinks he does.

With Cahill in the fold, New York had quite an array of attacking players. They already had Thierry Henry, Kenny Cooper and Joel Lindpere and last week they added Sebastien Le Toux. Now they have Cahill and it's tough to see a team slowing down their attack if Cahill can find the form from his younger years. At the very least, he will give them a physical force and clear out room for his teammates, which might be enough considering the quality of his fellow attackers.
