Highly-rated Japanese youngster Ryo Miyaichi has joined Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal. The 19-year-old spent the last half of the 2011/12 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, where he impressed, and the time has come for him to feature even more heavily at the top level. His appearances with the Latics will presumably depend on the impending departure of Victor Moses, who is rumoured to be Chelsea-bound. If that space is freed up, Miyaichi may well become a first-choice option for Roberto Martinez on the flanks.

19-year-old winger Ryo Miyaichi has left Arsenal on a season-long loan deal. He’ll link up with Roberto Martinez and Wigan Athletic.

Miyaichi has all of the ability to become a really special player, and if he does indeed get significant playing time this is a great move for the teenager, who joined Arsenal from Feyenoord in 2011. Good work to Arsene Wenger and co. in finding a good spot for him -- now it's up to Miyaichi to perform well enough that Martinez can't keep him out of the side. Should be another fun season.
