Two years ago, the the press reported allegations that French internationals Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema had enjoyed the services of an underage prostitute in Paris. That scandal was reasonably big news during the buildup to Les Bleus' disastrous 2010 World Cup campaign in South Africa but had seemingly blown over in the two years since. Now it's back!
Karim Benzema, Franck Ribery Will Stand Trial Over Underaged Prostitution Allegations
French stars Karim Benzema and Franck Ribery must stand trial over allegations that they solicited an underage prostitute, a French court has decided.

According to Yahoo Sports, both Benzema and Ribery are set to face trial over the scandal, with magistrate Antonio Dando rejecting the defence that neither player knew that Zahia Dehar was 16 when they paid her for sex. If found guilty, they could face up to three years in prison or a maximum fine of €45,000, or, as Karim Benzema calls it, ‘Tuesday.’
Jail time is presumably unlikely, but this can’t be good for the reputation of either player or French football as a whole. They will stand trial with six other defendants.
