Celtic Accept Swansea Bid For Ki Sung-Yeung

Celtic have agreed a fee with Swansea to sell midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung to the Welsh club.

The South Korean international joined the Bhoys in 2010 from FC Seoul, and manager Neil Lennon stated: “It will be unfortunate to lose a talented player, but that’s been our strategy at the club now for the last two or three years. We cultivate players then move them on. We feel it’s good business.”

The Celtic boss reported that talks were at an ‘advanced stage’ between the player and Swansea, with personal terms still needing to be finalised before a move can be completed. The midfielder has not yet returned to Celtic following his time at the London Olympics, where he was a part of South Korea’s squad which lost to Brazil in the semifinals, and Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby stated that a replacement may not be needed: “He has not really been a part of the season so far so we have shown that we can live without him, but on the other hand it would be nice to get someone else in if he goes away.

“He is a quality player, but on the other hand he is keen to move on, so the club needs to do something.”
