Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of action for a month after having scans on an injury he sustained in the 3-2 victory against Southampton on Sunday.

The Argentinian picked up a knee injury after a tackle from the Saints’ Nathaniel Clyne forced him to go off early in the first half of the match. Aguero tweeted: “Thank you all for your concern. I’m better but still resting with an ice pack on the swollen area. And very eager to start recovery physio tomorrow! I’ll keep you posted. All the best!”

Although the international break means that the impact on the Blues' campaign will be minimalised, Aguero will certainly miss Manchester City's fixture at Anfield against Liverpool and the following home game against Queen's Park Rangers, and could also be out for the game against Stoke City the following week.

Aguero will join his teammate Micah Richards on Manchester City's injury-list.
