Internazionale have completed the signing of Walter Gargano on a €1.5m 1-year loan with a view to a €5m permanent deal at the end of the season.

The Uruguayan midfielder told Sky Sports Italia: ”“I’m joining a great club. They wanted me here and I’ll do my best to repay Inter’s faith in me.

“Am I afraid of the competition for a place in the team? No, I’m never scared.”

The midfielder also wrote an open letter to fans at his previous club, where he explained that the reasons for his move were partly motivated out of a desire for more playing time, saying: “It was a painful decision for me, agreed with the club, but I want to point out that I wanted it.

"You know that I like to play all of the time and this year Napoli's midfield has become much more dense than in the past and there was a risk of being left out."
